Artist statement:

My response to the natural world around me, the landscape, its light effects, its rhythms and forms have a spiritual significance, an emotion that I can only share in visual terms.  

I paint indoors from drawings done outdoors. The images that form the basis of my work are inspired by long trips on the road, chronicling specific areas often simply to try and understand them better. 

The use of space, light and color are the tools, landscape the vehicle, sincerity of the first impression the goal.

Relating my work to the long legacy of the landscape, I am in debt to those artists who have come before me.
